She took the pics, mounting brackets get clear coated, calipers and rotor hats go black, the front axle gets clear coated... along with the other parts for the front axle that wont get paint just heavy amounts of clear.

Going bare metal look on alot of the parts.

My credo
If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
Now I want to build a street rod again. Come on, get a few rusty parts to make the rest of us feel better.

The last picture indicates you probably need more coffee...

I also see some cool old metal toy trucks... didn't think you were into that stuff.

We are aiming for Detroit Autorama with this car. So I'm aiming for clean but aged. Not rust bucket.... I have a Ranger that has plenty of rust.

Tacked in the front cross member set it at the correct angle etc...

Also picked up a dash similar to a 36 dash, forgot to take a picture of it, needs work but will be so worth it for the look of the car.

You're going to paint everything, right? I hate "patina", if I want to see something that's weather beaten I'll look in a mirror.

The body gets scotchbrighted and like 6 layers of clear over bare metal. The hood, grill, cowl goes blue and the back of the car gets black and white "invasion" markings like a p51 had on its fuselage before the elevators. I'm not sure how far up the back of the car to the trunk lid they will go but I think it needs them in some capacity. Frame gets a semi gloss or flat black paint. And the interior is getting a mix of the green they had in the cockpit and black.

Had the woman finish prepping parts and she painted the rotor hats and calipers black. The front axle and brackets for the calipers got like 6-7 coats of clear.

This is such a cool build.
I scratched my head when you mentioned "Invasion Stripes." So...here is some history I found:

Thanks im planning on going 40's with the stance of the car also since its a high boy pretty much level front and back. I gotta find a place around here with a plas table to cut down some 1/4" 1' square thick plates I got to , The plasma cutter doesn't have enough nuts to slice through them in a timely manner and need to make some plates to reinforce the frame where the bends are.

Toonces drives a Ranger . . . . just not very well.

Cool idea for a theme. It'll be a "Blue-nosed Bastards of Bodney" hot rod.

Been following this one with a lot of interest- lot's of good work going on.

Great. I like a "rat rod" that looks like it was home built and painted, I hate the ones that are dirty, rusty, rolling examples of poor workmanship.
