I have a '95 stx 4x4 manual with a shot engine and a '97 doner 4.0 xlt 2wd both manual. I have read up but haven't found a clear answer as to what I will need in terms of the wiring harness. Also the transmission bot patterns are different and everything I read said they would be the same.

You will probably want everything in the engine bay in terms of wires. You will also want the computer.

Not sure what you have been reading, but it's wrong. The 3.0 is the odd man out in terms of the bell pattern for the Ranger. No other Ranger engine has the same pattern.

The 2.8, 2.9 and 4.0 all share the same pattern.

The 2.0, 2.3, and 2.5 Lima engines share a pattern.

The 3.0L and 2.3 Duratech both have unique bell patterns.

I have seen some rumors that the very early 3.0s shared a pattern with the Cologne engines, but I have yet to see proof of it.

I was also hoping you could point me in the direction to find out if the transmission will interchange with the transfer case.
