i noticed the other day my 2000 3.0 will sputter or cut out for a split second(usually several times) at lower rpm's, but it doesnt seem to do it above 1500 rpm's. i know they should be reved higher, but what its doing is not normal. what really bothers me is it will cut out when i let out the clutch while taking off until i get above 1500 rpm's. could this be a coil or ignition problem??

Start with the basics.

spark plugs, air filter, maybe plug wires, change gas station you fill up at, seafoam it, clean the MAF, IAC, etc.

Do not use brake cleaner unless you want to buy another maf!Use crc maf cleaner or a suitable equivelant.Costs about $7.00 at your local parts house.Your iac should be where your intake tube is atached to the manifold. The same cleaner should work on it let dry well before starting.

IAC == Idle air control. it's mounted directly above the throttle plate. It's common for oil from the breather to leave a film in there and sick it. Pull off your intake pipe and take a good look at teh throttle plate for oily film. Then open it up and look inside the manifold. If you see lots of oil, get some manifold cleaner and get to work.

thanks for all the help with this guys. i bought some crc maf cleaner today and cleaned the maf. it did help a little but the sputtering was still there. i was looking over the mantinance records from the PO and the wires and plugs were changed, but it was about 70k ago:sad: i put a set of plug wires on and bingo! problem solved! it runs alot better and smoother now. im still going to change the plugs tomorrow after set up the new gears. im just fixing one thing at a time:D
