i have a 95 ranger 3.0 5 spd, the usual grinding of 2nd gear synchro. I have access to a lower mileage 4.0 sohc manual trans i don't know what year its from, but it is the same as the sohc and 5 speed he put into his 97 ranger. i think the cases are different. does anyone know if the internals are the same. could i swap all the internals and save myself a huge parts bill?

The bellhousing is cast with the case so the entire transmission will not bolt to your 3.0L. The guts will swap over, but beware that the 4.0L gearsets have a taller first, second, and third gear than the 3.0L (which in my opinion the torqueless 3.0L needs as low of a starting gear as possible).
