I have just purchased a 2007 4.0l 2wd ranger in amazing condition with only 57k, even though I have limited slip And xice Michelin tires, I noticed during the first snow fall here in Cornwall Ontario Canada that traction is an issue- first tried some buckets of stone dust but did not like the functionality of them so switched to 3 hundred pound 24” x 30” patio stones - then added a piece of 1/2” plywood with brackets to help stop the patio stones from shifting. Painted it all black - plus notched the plywood and cut out a removable divider to Prevent smaller loads from shifting forward-

a few hundred pounds in the bed definitely helps.
I used 6-7 bags of play sand now.
when I was working the 400 lbs of tools did just fine.

you Canadians are lucky. don't have the "California Prop 65" warning on your plywood.
it can be a real bummer risking "reproductive health" issues while banging U.S. plywood. :icon_surprised:

Nice write up, and a RED Ranger (y)

Don't put anything heavy in the rear area or the backend will try to race you around a slippery corner, lol

There was a third patio stone to give the 300lb weight. Hoping this will do the trick- truck is in amazing shape, great find- also Added aftermarket cruise

Nice looking Ranger :)

We should have a sub-forum just for RED Rangers

We certainly do not have any marking as such on our wood in Canada- perhaps we should- same risk might apply here. I used Tremblay oil based paint as well. !! California standards are considered the highest in many ways.

I am almost 60 and This is my first personal truck I have ever had- used a few at work from time to time, but personally I have always just towed a trailer around behind a car, I had no idea I would like it this much. Perfect fit
