Here’s how it’s going so far. Would be done if my piston didn’t get a little funked up on install but hopefully It was for the best seeing if the main bolts can’t be reused.

sweet dreams my ranger buddies

Are you using a compressor?

I was, yes. A little rental from autozone. After the first try this happened so I chose not to use it on the other pistons. Gonna borrow one I used before from my local machinist.

I'm not sure how I would trust one of those AZ jobs, likely best to get a cheapo from HF. Did you spray it all good with wd40 or anything?

Lubed er up and everything. Never had it happen to me before on installing pistons. Guess I did something wrong or got a little unlucky this time.

Man there's no telling with those loaners. I'm not knocking the loaners for most things but pistons and rings and cylinders I would prefer having I knew and trusted.
I think I've had more bad loaners than good ones, and the guys who allow them to be returned in a less than use-able state are mostly to blame

I’ve definitely learned my lesson. I had to buy a whole new set of pistons, as I couldn’t buy the same one as a single. And I still have to bring it back to the machinist to get it pressed back on. It’s always something, delay after delay. Almost done with my 66 project atleast. Just recently finished all the brake lines.
