Today i took my 2000 ranger with the 4.0l auto 4-spd tranny up diggin. i don't know what happened but once i got back down the pavement the tranny was actin up like crazy. It would go through first gear, shift into second then once it got up to shifting point in 2nd gear it would rev up real high.
It was acting like it was dropping back down into first gear (which i'm pretty sure it was). As many of you know, first gear doesn't really engine brake, it kinda coasts in neutral (at least mine does) until you get on the throttle. That's how it was acting. THe O/D off light was flashing, also.
Anyone have any ideas as to what could be wrong? i was worried so we took it down the the ford dealership to have it looked at.
