Yes. If there isn't you can go about three miles before the steering gets hard.

I knew it...brand new hose and gear box, but seeping out the sides. I have a poop ton of o-rings. What size should I shoot for? The size of the hole in the gear box or the size of the flange on the hose?

I knew it...brand new hose and gear box, but seeping out the sides. I have a poop ton of o-rings. What size should I shoot for? The size of the hole in the gear box or the size of the flange on the hose?
There should be O-rings at the fitting on the pump.

The fittings at the gear box are flared like brake lines and seal themselves when the nut it tight enough. If you have a leak at the box you either have a bad line, or a loose line.

OK, the line aint loose, so the "new" line might be bad.

Should I be able to see the o-ring in the gear box hole?

I ask about the o-ring, because of this pic over at rockauto: Seems like the line comes with an o-ring

There is no o-ring in the gear box end, at all. So, no you shouldn't be able to see an o-ring there.

The o-ring only goes at the pump end.

10-4...so my hose is shot from the get go is my bet. Gotta love "new" parts quality control nowadays

In your RockAuto pic, that o-ring goes on that line, the end the goes to the pump, not to the gear box. In the pump end of that line, between the fitting and the end of the line, there is a recess that the o-ring fits into.
