Will a 1988 trans from a 2.3 bolt to a 1996 2.3? As in bellhousing pattern and clutch/ flywheel compatibility? Any help would be appreciated. I can't search the forum on my phone so don't harass me too much. Thanks.

it will fit and is the same other than possibly a couple details you could compare. For one, the slave cylinder is different between the two and am not 100% sure on compatabiliity on them but I think it'll work as long as you get the right one for the transmission. The other issue is you will need to look at the speed sensor in it, a '96 speedometer isn't driven by a cable anymore but I think there is still an electric sensor, no idea if it's where the speedo gear is though...
