1995-97 4.0 1 row VS 2 row fan shroud

Few questions:
Is there a special fan shroud for the 1 row 4.0 radiator?
Is the 3.0 shroud the same as the 4.0?

I’m not 100 percent positive but I believe the 3.0 radiator was smaller, don’t take my word though

RockAuto shows the same 1 row rad for 95-97 4.0 and 3.0

I'm wanting to use a much thicker one from a 96 Explorer on my 93 Ranger, both are 4.0 but the double thick 96 is a new radiator

The 2 row radiator was optional on manual trucks and standard on automatics I believe. Im planning to use the 1 row to clear the fan on my 5.0 swap. Fingers crossed it works well enough.

The 96 explorer uses a radiator that is similar to one used on 98 up rangers and will not fit between your frame rails as it is much too wide. 93 and 94 rangers did come with a 2 inch thick radiator as an option though

Aw man what a terrible thing to learn this time of day. I slept half the evening and soon as I read this grabbed a light and tape measure and took off outside into a 50 mph wind, well, make it mostly 40 (wind 20 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph) to locate the radiator and measure it agin mine. Three and one-half inches too wide :/

Keep in mind that a thicker radiator isn't always better. The more rows you have the harder it is to get air to pass through it as there are more fins per inch for the air to pass over causing a restriction. Less air flow means less heat is radiated to the air. A cooling fan upgrade may be necessary to keep the same air flow on a thicker rad.

It's cool man. Actually I bought a new one a couple years ago, so it should be fine. I am taking the 96 4.0 out to go in my 93 Ranger
