My credo
typically the difference between an $8 and a $20 haircut is way more than $12
So I bought this truck almost 4 years ago for $500 with 115000 miles on it and it now sits at 175,000.
I love this truck and have put some serious $$ trying to keep it running but I am now at a point where I need some help.
the problem leading up to the current crank/no-start situation are as follows. a while back I had some issues with the fuel pump relay so i pulled another power distribution box from byot and it seemed to do the trick but then intermittently when downshifting or just coming to a stop, I think only when doing so from 2nd gear,
whenever I would press the clutch pedal it cut the power to everything but I would be able to restart it no problem. google told me it was the throwout bearing. I bought a new one but have yet to have the
guts to take on this job as I'm unsure of my ability to complete it. the other day while in traffic the power cut out and I was unable to get it started as was typical. pushed off to the side of the road I fiddled with the relay until 2 hours later it started and I was able to get home. I drove it for another day until it stalled again and won't start. The fuel pump isn't priming and I found this under the truck. any idea what these are? how they could have gotten like this?

Hey David, you better get that figured out before you go any farther, loose wires cause fires

I would tend to agree and at this time I'm left with no choice as it is not starting at all.

Port Neches eh, cool place, I worked off the Texas and Louisiana coast quite a while in the late 70s into the mid 80s

You need a motors manual for basic stuff, even though this isn't basic, it is repairing damage the previous mechanic botched

You NEVER want hot wires laying ANYWHERE in a motor vehicle.
The CAPS are not directed at you, but at anybody who may reference this thread

Your 94 and my 93 are basically identical, they were the introduction to the 4th generation I believe it was

You need to figure out where those wires come from and where do they go

You can look on ebay and find old Ford CD's that are old shop manuals. They are not real hard to navigate but you must realize they were made before even windows 95 was released

Still they are a treasure to own in circumstances like the one you are in now

You need to trace the wires and know where they go and what they do

To pull the transmission you need a transmission jack, it isn't really difficult but you must be carefull
The throwout bearing is just a tiny bearing in the tail of the crank, not hard at all to replace

I am not certain if that is what you need or not sir, it appears to me to be more of a halfway fix that will still land you in a shop
I found the one I have on an ebay listing, at that time it only cost me a few dollars. It has paid for itself over many times
Just remember it was made before windows 95 ever existed, and it isn't hard to navigate with that understanding in mind
