O.K. this is likely a crazy ****ing question but i have to ask.....

Is there anyway to swap the entire drive train of an 06 b4000 4x4 under a 96 xlt 4x4?

I know these trucks didnt change all that much but did they change enough to make it all a straight swap?

Feel free to ridicule as im prepared for the honest truth.

I ask because I need an engine for my 96 so i was planning to do the wiring conversion any way BUT i would love the automatic (i never go off roading nor haul stuff) and the donor b400 is an automatic.

thanks cvar, I actually was looking at that moments before you posted. I'm just deciding if its legal to take a write off Mazda frame w/ drive train and plop a ranger cab on it.... does that count as a rebuild or franken truck? lol

Most likely depends on where you are. Here I'm pretty sure that'd be no problem as long as the frame wasn't damaged.
