Gt-12

i got to the task of turning the exhaust pipe halves into rocker panels.i cut a small slice off the end and used it to determine the profile i would need.

after about half an hour of beating the pipe half over the section of box tubing in the foreground i've got one roughed in.i'm using parts of 5'' elbows to form the ends of these rockers, but am still waiting for them to show up,so i cant do much with them until then.

You guys need to slow down, I'm missing too much around here!

Those bandsaws are great, I have the same thing. Best part is you can cut any kind of material with them and do it accurately. I must admit though I never thought about carrying the upper part to the work, it's not exactly a lightweight handtool.

That comes with the theory "work smarter, not harder", carry the lighter/smaller of the tool/material to the material/tool...

ya,the saw isn't super-light,but it's lighter than the metal....and it's not 24' long:icon_thumby:.

That's a good point, I don't have to cut up 24' long pieces. I get the metal supplier to reduce it in size so that I can transport it. My daily driver is slightly shorter than yours.

nope...it'll get cut into four pieces to make the front and rear ends of the rockers.i'll be doing that tonight so you'll see what i'm doing with it.

why the hell was it so expensive!?!

I think I know where you're going with this, could you have not used a cheap steel wok?.

i guess they're a few bucks in th real world, once you get the shipping and all to get it here,it adds up to even more.

just the cost of living in a remote northern community-and on a island.

no,this combines positive and negative turns in a part that has the same material and finish as the pipe being used for the rest of the rocker.

so on the four corners i'll use it on that works out to $26 a corner....that's not so bad to get a professional looking finish.
