If you can't go through it or around it, then go over it.
There is a problem with the title on my Expedition. The vin was forged and actually belongs to a wreched one........ somebody committed insurance fraud. I have to take it back to the dealership I got it from. They have another 98 Expedition to excahange.

98 with a 5.4L and a transmission order code of 44U. Which transmission is that? Car-parts .com lists e4od or 4r100 for all 5.4 1998 5.4L expeditions but 44u sugests 4R70W so which is it?

E4OD, 4R100 were the available transmissions in 1998, according to Shopkey. The "44u" is the line order number used during assembly. I'm fairly sure the 4r70 is not used in ford suv's. I think it was the AODE.

My 4.6L Expedition has a 4R70w

The 4r70w is the same as the AODE internally. It's late and the terminoligy is getting fuzzy. I'll look into this further tommorow.

What VIN are you going to use/need? I'll check on Microcat for that order code but with a VIN I can email you a build sheet. I'll also look in transmissions available for that year.

That's just it, I forgot to write down the vin and my phone didn't store it.

I think the E4OD and 4R100 are the same, kinda like the AODE and the 4R70W.

They are similar but not the same.

I am not real fluent in Expys, but with 97-03 F-150's you had to get a F-250LD or F-150 7700 to get the 4R100. Otherwise you get the 4R70W... which IMO is a pretty good tranny.

are they going to reimburse you for the trans replacement you just did in it?
