My idea of a Shelby Ranger if there would have been one.

Hmm where to begin on this weekend? Well for starters had a flat on the Honda when I got to work on friday.. Had it fixed.. or so I thought... Screwed with it that night with plug.. No go.. Took it in again only to find it had 3 holes and couldn't be fixed.. Bought new tire. Ok so now for the Ranger... Girlfriend and I got up early to go to pull a part... Found all cars I was looking for... Now for the run down... Camaro = flip tag for hidden hitch... Ranger / Explorer = Cab corners from a 92 Ranger and a rear view mirror.. Full size chevrolet or s10 = winch for spare tire. Also got eccentrics so I can play with the camber for free.. I have to say it is awesome having a girl that will do "guy stuff".. Plus if I need a tool I didn't bring she can flirt and get it! Well finished up at the JY came home and spent 30 min calling to find front tires... About 30 miles to pep boys and a 30 min wait they were done,. Got back to shop only to find out buddy mounted both tires for left side... Made another trip to closer pep boys to get one switched... It's been a hell of a day...

Here's the few pics of the day...

Wished my wife would go to the junk yard with me to help pull parts.

Mine used to now she won't even hang out in the shop with me. But the kids are always willing.

for sure. I almost have it back together from derby so I can get back to the ranger.:D

...man I wish she was done already!!!

Get over it! You should have learned by now that it'll never be done. Just be glad when you get finished with the current project, and enjoy it until the next mod.

The truck looks good with all four matching now, can't wait for mine to get there. Currently two bolts away from the front suspension being out completely on the 86 (which has taken a month just to get that far ). Then it'll be the tedious process of cleaning and spray bombing the chassis (as much as I can with the body still on at least). Can't wait to see the front end back on the ground with the Dream Beams installed and engine ready to go in. For me nothing helps motivation quite like visible progress.

I finally saw the difference with the Gen 1 and Gen 2 I beams. Here is what I would do of it were me and if it will work. :dunno: I would get 89 and up Dream Beams and steering components.. the beams for Gen 2 are cheaper from what I can remember.. I only paid 300 new for mine..

Nice

I like what you did with your truck, I have a similar idea and hopefully i will have pictures of it on here soon.

Sunday's work.. Installed new tailgate handle. Used a 1998 full size 1500 cargo door handle for it.. Works perfect! fixed the wiring issue on the tail lights causing the ABS light to come on... I wound up grounding the tail lamps directly to the frame.. I assume this is ok... Used some CRC MAF cleaner and cleaned the MAF.. I would say another two weeks and I should be able to get it on the road... Windshield is next up!

I know the difference and advantages of going with the 89+ beams but will be going with the First gen beams. Biggest reason is I already have them sitting here with ball joints installed and IIRC I only have $300 in them total (including shipping and the ball joints). On top of that they were brand new when I got them. A fella had purchased them to use on his first gen he never got around to using them on the truck, they sat on a shelf for years. Come up two years ago and he bought a newer Ranger Well he wanted to lower it but didn't want to downgrade the brakes to use the beams he had. He had a line on another set someone was selling but couldn't buy them until he got rid of the ones he had. I got lucky and he got what he needed. I'll eventually go to the second gen beams, but it will wait until I actually need better brakes. At that point I'll be installing them so that I can adapt to larger brakes from a mustang to match a 5.0 swap that would be happening at the same time. For now the stock brakes are plenty adequate, in 8 years they never let me down, and they did fine for 14 years before that with the rest of my family.

Should be fine, everything grounds back to the frame or body anyway and them back to the battery. Only issue you would have is if there were a switch or something in the ground circuit, but if everything still works correctly this shouldn't be a problem. hell half the time a trailer is being pulled the lights on it are being grounded through the hitch ball and frame on the truck rather than the plug and it isn't a problem.

I just can't figure out why the main ground for the lamps it screwing with the ABS... But no need to worry if it all works huh...

Love the build, Congrats on a great truck. I learned a lot from this thread including why my taillights aren't working
