Front Fuel Leak 1993 Ranger 4.0 XLT Auto

Sorry, things went crazy with rain we weren’t supposed to get Friday and I left my buddies place without grabbing my kit or taking down any information

Hey thanks man it's all good. I had other cats to skin anyways. For Mothers Day I had to pressure wash, prime, stain and replace an old board on my old deck. Also some Lawn cutting, shrub weeding and weed whacking.

It isn't my only vehicle, but I could of used the Ranger to pick up materials etc, it's all good, appreciate you looking out.

Ok so I tried the master quick connect kit to remove the stock disconnect fitting, it still won't budge. However I was able to push the two fuel lines down into the driver's side wheel well area and it looks much easier at that location to work on.
I'll try and tackle it tomorrow.

Question to @Curious Hound @lil_Blue_Ford
Where is the fuel filter located? I cannot locate it. Is at at The Front, the Rear, Passenger side or Driver's side. If worse comes to worse I may run a new fuel line straight from the rail to the filter.

Driver side frame rail, right under the driver seat.

Driver side frame rail, right under the driver seat.

Thanks, I couldn't find it. I'll give it another look tomorrow. So it's directly under the driver's seat?

I'm thinking of running a new fuel line straight from the filter to the fuel rail pressure regulator now.

Usually. That's Fords favorite place to put it.

Here is the one on my Explorer when I pulled it out of the bracket and let it hang to pump the tank dry.

Should be inside the frame rail, there may be a metal plate blocking direct view of it, I’m really not sure exactly how the 93-97 did it, but my Choptop has a like L-shaped plate bolted to the frame rail on the inside and the filter is behind that.

I'm gonna try picks too, won't hurt to try them. Just read a few comments online about using these. Worth a shot, I got nothing to lose.

If all else fails today, I'm going to the fuel filter. Looks like it may be easier. However I didn't give up yet from disconnecting it by the power steering pump.

I wish it was this easy. LOL

And If I may, this set of dental picks I bought on Amazon are made awesome. Not chincy.

Been really hot here in NJ. I may take a crack at the lines on Wednesday.

@lil_Blue_Ford @Curious Hound It's been awhile since I had posted anything with reference to the thread, I have been pretty busy getting ready for the summer here in NJ. Today I removed the second Fuel line fitting from the Fuel rail, as i will have more line to deal with when I eventually try to disconnect the quick fittings. The second fitting I took off today was the supply feed line, as it has a bigger fitting than the regulator fitting which is an AN M16 1.5. Today I ordered the AN M16 1.5 fitting for the supply line to the fuel rail.

The photo below shows how I was able to bring both disconnect fittings (supply and return) down into the driver's side wheel well so I could work on them way easier.

Some good news, I'll have a second pair of hands and another head, as one of my mechanic friends will be over this Sunday to help me out just in case. 😅

Note: After looking at several videos on YT I noticed I may have been putting that quick disconnect tool on the wrong end of the fitting. We will try it both ways Sunday.

In these YT videos I'm listing, you'll see what I mean.

Here I Draped the fuel lines down into the wheel well after disconnecting them both from the fuel rail

In this video he's putting the tool on the opposite side of the spring side. 🤔

In this video he's inserting it in the spring side. 🤔

This video is opposite of the spring side

Now I'm really confused. WTF? 💩

It will only go in one side, the side with the spring. It's being done properly in both videos. Sometimes the fittings face the other way.

Don't overthink it
