My idea of a Shelby Ranger if there would have been one.

Well it's official, because of your Ranger I'm now a member. Your build has made my mind up for me and I've decided to move forward with my own high performance Ranger build, Project: Ranger RS!

I'm not for sure, but if you put them too far back, you have run a oil pump to pump the oil to them, or it, but if I was going to turbo one, that is the set up I would use, and also use the least amount of bends that you can get away with.

Robert

Great job on the STOTM should've happened months ago. Have you decided on where to exit the exhaust yet. My vote is for a burnout vid. Just gotta love the sound of screaming tires.

Thanks Blue!! For now it is in the right rear corner.. When I figure out the turbo thing and setup the exhaust based on Kat's recommendation I will decide my options then.. Burn out Vid comming soon!!

exactly:icon_thumby:...it takes less pressure need to turn a smaller turbine...equals less turbo lag, also power quicker, just not as much as a BIG FUDGIN' TURBO.

what multi said, but IIRC gen 3 I beams have two piston calipers as apposed to a gen 1&2's 1 piston caliper.

Ok I am not a turbo gueru but my friend and I put a turbo from a ups truck on his wifes 93 geo storm. What I learned is it can be anywhere in the exhaust flow but the closer to the manifold the quicker the spool up. After mid shipe will need a booster pump on the feed side of oil lines. Only need 1-2psi just to keep flow from airaiting. That said my opinion for best results would be to use a small spool from a turbo volvo 850. they only measure 4.5" across and mount with a ball socket style flange. with the right tuning they are capable of around 15# of boost. With the mounts they use you should be able to conect right to your headers without losing much ground clearence. They also come out in only 2-2.5 inch to intake. On a stock motor I would limit it to no more than 9# of boost. Where the biggest problem will be in sensor programing. Have to find out what iat flow is for the 4.0 and maf pressure limits. But it is very do able and I would try it. Has to be easier than the one we did on the geo. That required major work to the heads, including adding a extra plug to the cylinders, but it was fun a geo that could grab rubber in all five gears. Oh btw we were just supposed to be putting a clutch in it. Good luck

I appreciate all the Info!! I will look for a small turbo next JY trip!! I think I am running a 5.0 Maf but can't swear by it.. The fuel regulator went bad once threw a code for the O2. Replaced it but didn't change. A buddy suggested Maf and had one laying around.. It seems as though he said it was for a 5 liter.... Is that possible???

You have to have something like Photobucket to upload the pics to.. Then copy the image link into the insert image button link thingy above (looks like a mountain)
BAM you are done my friend :icon_thumby:

Yea it is possible and for what you want to do it should work to you benifit. If you need to reprogram your computer I believe you can use a v6 mustang flash drive. I will talk to a friend of mine he built his own back door flasher for his f150. He's got my computer right now to reprogram for yhe 4.6. He is a coke bottled glasses desk jocky (not really), but a computer wiz. He will know.:D
