Kyle M's Ranger Rebuild

Idea for the box, maybe!
020.jpg

I was thinking about something like that, just seems like a lot of welding!

Just a small update, pictures when I get more done,

I sold the motor and tranny out of the parts truck, so they are pulled, working on getting the cab stripped and pulled. All my new parts showed up, air shocks, heims, gears, ect. Got my radius arms choped and the 2" DOM mocked up, gonna looking into adding some degree correction on those so I can tuck them into the frame, thats about it.

Hoping to have a bare chassis in the shop in the next couple of weeks and getting my 44 set up under it, maybe put the engine tranny into it first:icon_confused: IDK yet

I will post pictures when I have soemthing cool to show, but I have been working on it!

Thanks for following along!

damn, this is the first time i've seen this thread. glad to see you're doing something with the truck! let me know when you're done so i can see it in action at bundy hill!

OK, you will know if you follow my thread...I am already hurtin for doin some wheeling! Thinking about taking my DD Explorer out!

Got the cab of the parts truck, got the rest of the front clip off my X cab, pulled the bolts for the box so I can yank it, swapped steering columns so i can drive it into the garage. I started cleaning up the new frame a little, gonna start stripping it tomorrow. Plan is to pull my X cab, then the motor and then drop it in this new frame, then put the cab on then the lift and SAS.

And after parting my truck, so far I only paid $75(got $375 for all the parts I sold so far) for my new frame, front clip, steering column and I still have lots of parts to scrap...gonna be free by the time I am done with it.

On with the pictures!

nice im interested in how the airshox will do

What's up with that right rear leaf spring shackle mount? Did the rust finally break it apart?

You know.....I've been toying around with some front/rear brackets for the rangers. You know, finding an easy way to fab them stronger than factory and cheaper than OEM replacements.

Once I get a set of "prototypes" done, I'm gonna need a guinea pig.............

Yeah, the one shackle hanger is broke, but I have a whole new set on the other ranger I will be swapping over. But if timing works out, I wouldn't mind being a guinea pig....

Yeah me too. The F'ers are huge, the shock hoops are going to be interesting to fit. Looks like I will have to do some relocating of the stock air box and the battery......shoulda got shorter ones to make it easier, but more flex is cool:D

two words... engine cage

Yeah, thats kinda the plan. More like 2 hoops with one connecting bar that run directly over the engine, space depending, but that is my plan right now.

Jeepers, really rippin' on this thing so far. Would say something encouraging like "looking good!" or something... but it's just a frame... and the same truck you had before minus front clip, sooooooooooo... haha! :D

what length are they 16? im planning on about the same thing....

LOL, thanks anyway. Hopfully in another couple weeks I will have the cab mounted and the motor in, then I can start on my SAS. Hope to have this build done by September, we will see. Looks like money is gonna start to determine how far I got with it.

Yeah, they are 16's. I will post lots of pictures as I get them mounted.

i was planning on going the same route, 16' 2.0's but heard alot of talk about the ranger being too heavy...but i have seen bigger rigs with them on with no problems so im going to atleast try, if they dont work can always go coilover...

be ready for ALOT of body roll though, ive heard a sway bar is almost a must
