Has anyone replaced their shifter with a Hurst?

Pretty sure it won't fit my Toyo Kyogo 5spd 83-90

Hurst will only fit the Mazda M5od trans...

Yes I've had one for about 3 years now and absolutely love it! Real easy install.

I've had one since april or may...

I have decided I NEED to get another one for my other Ranger.

I did it on mine .. VERY easy. Took maybe 45minutes tops .. and thats taking my time and comparing things and getting sidetracked.

Its prolly the BEST thing ive done to my truck. Its really amazing. A little noisey but my speakers cover it up.

Best 200 dollars i ever spent.

ive had one for about 3 years now, well worth the money. easily installed and the only negative thing i have to say about the product is that you do get noise from the transmission you didnt have before with the stock setup, it will get a little better with the passing of time. mine doesnt make any noticeable noise in 5th gear. i did add a 2" extention to mine to put the knob right where i wanted it.

I drove a customer truck with one, and I've said it before and I'll say it again. When I get an extra $200 I'm gunna get one. Holy cow the difference!

To answer your question they are easy to put in.

ok maybe a dumb question, but what is a hurst shifter? ive herd of them but what makes them different then a reg shifter?

Hey Wannabe, where did you get those boots and trim rings? Are those factory FX4?

They are factory 02-03 Fx4 'twinstick' stuff....tcase shifter, boots, shift balls are all factory parts. They're not factory to my truck, but I converted to manual case and given my screenname, she's a Fx4wannabe that's an '01. lol. I'm not running that setup anymore unfortunately, had a little shock load incident and byebye transfer case. Back to having the stupid switch in the dash. :(

Oh...to answer your question: I got 'em from a guy who thought they were aftermarket at junkyard. On the cheap. On the really cheap. lol. Got two total sets of that crap...bezel, boots, shifters, RCM cover.

A Hurst shifter is a short throw shifter....and it does just that: shortens the throw. Throw meaning the distance between gears and neutral and such. Shortens up the throw ALOT, I feel comfortable saying it shortens it up by 50% possibly more? The way it shortens the throw is not only by a shorter shift arm, but also it relocates where the arm pivots in the transmission: stock is in the trans, hurst is above the trans. Those two things create a shorter shift throw.

I find that the hurst is alot more picky compared to stock, but that's a good thing. It's a firm shifter and I honestly will never own another manual ranger without one.

I'll give you $100 to ship me a set with the t-case shifter stick. That Looks damn good.
