sub with jumper seats

i got 1.3445 cf

but it is it enuff depends on the CF requirements for the sub. if you port it you need an even bigger box. what sub were you looking at using?

did you use that website? i tried envisioning the "wedge box" as it's listed on the site, and tried to rotate it in my mind, but it still isn't right i don't think.

i've got two different depths, one at the bottom and one at the top

and i really don't know about a sub, i think i might be able to get a 400w rms sub for free from a friend, i think that's how much he said it is... i'd have to follow up to be sure about brand and stuff too.

how deep is that box flyingbrick? my sub is 7.7 inches deep or something like that. i guess i need a really deep and big box

6" outside, I'm running a shallow mount Kenwood 12. I would not go any deeper with out running a brace/foot to the floor in front of the box.

I seem to have started a trend with replacing the jack.

I've had that idea kicking around my mind since i bought my truck, I was going to do the same thing with my old Kicker, but never found the time to build the box. Then i was offered the Kenwood for the right price.

I am sure he used that site, try http://www.bcae1.com/spboxnew2.htm again about 1/4 the way down, you'll find "Triangular boxes", use that calculator and think of it as looking at the box from the passenger side.

okay, that is the one that looks like my box will look like. if i could simply do just a basic triangle, i wouldn't have enough air space, so the extra depth at the top gives it alot more space.

I myself got 1.344cf, with .75 mdf.

I want to go with this design i think, and i am pretty sure it would fit currently with how my seat is. but idk how to figure out the depth in the middle to see if the sub would fit, since it's mounted on the front face.

also, i'm thinking that is kinda in between too big for a sealed, but too small for a ported. what if i did a really small port? like a 1 inch diameter or something?

i assume with bigger boxes you do bigger ports right? or is it the other way around? sorry if i sound like a jackass lol.

I don't know the best way to find out if the magnet will clear or not, but I'd get some paper and draw out a side view of the box and mark 3/4" all the way around to you have a pic of the "inside" of the box, then when you pick a sub measure like hell to make sure it'll fit.

If it is too big to be sealed for the sub you chose make it smaller.
Unless your hell-bent on having it that size/and or ported. I'd not mess with port sizes use a calculator to find what you need and make it work.

no to port some some thing you have to make the box the right size, then the dia and length of the port all matter, and some times were comes in to play

i have a 93 extended cab and i have 2 8inch "bookshelf" speakers behind both of my jump seats b/c i have had 5 people in my truck on more than one occation, and i dont have an amp or anything and it is plenty loud and sounds good , i stuffed some packaged air and other stuff in the hole to keep it from bouncing around while i drive, i just straight took out the blown out speakers from the harness up above the seats and soldered in the speaker wire harness off the speakers i took out, and i can still bump for being a white boy.

how legal is have 5 people in there

You know, I'm not a police officer or anything, but I'm pretty positive that if you have 5 seats, all with belts, you can seat 5 people in the vehicle.

If I changed the size on anything, it would be the width. Then I would probably just mount my sub on the back of the cab maybe? Idk what else I would put in the empty space, maybe move the jack to that side (because I don't have any other spot for a jack)

Anyway, designed out the same box, but with a width of 40" instead of 52" (the whole width of the back of my cab)

Here's pictures of both:

smaller box (new version has 1.025cf, which is just bout perfect for alot of subs in sealed enclosures):

If your box does not take up the whole back wall it is not a big deal, if you have the room you could maybe mount your amp next to it on the wall, if you look real close on my box i have about 1.5 on the one side and about 3-4" on the other side, don't forget you have to get wires to the box.

and for what 4x4fun said "no to port some some thing you have to make the box the right size, then the dia and length of the port all matter, and some times were comes in to play"

means in order to port something your box HAS to be the right size, and the port HAS to be the right size in diameter and length, and i have no idea on the last part.

lol why?? it sounds awesome.

well when it comes to home audio "book shelf" systems or what i call a b***h in a box system are wrong on many many different levels, and to move that over to car audio is even worse but this is IMO, and IMO if it works for you great, but I'd rather run without audio (and i have).

okay, I'm thinking of just doing the 40" box, with a 12" probably. 1cf should be enough for a 12", depending on the sub. Will then have room for the amp and the amps wiring, and the subs wiring.

How do you put the connectors on the box? Also, if you just screw it in or something, should i hook up wires on the inside, and then when i put my sub in just hook it up and go?

To get your wiring into the box PICK A WINNER , 1cf should be close for most 12s, mine needs .8cf. I can't understand the rest of what you’re asking but I'd not build the box till you have the sub in your hands.

wow alot has gone one since i left lol.... first the book shelf speakers..........yea........second 1 CF for one 12 is a pretty good number,

porting- to port a box to specs you have too;
1 build the box to the right size,
2 have the dia or the size correct,
3 that the length of the port right, (its not just a hole) that tube is a certain length for a reason.
4 some times they want the hole 90deg from the sub, or on the same side as the face or the sub ect
