sub with jumper seats

you could only go maybe 2" before you would start to seriously affect the usefullness of the rear seats.

thats what i wanted to do with mine then have to where you can just put the seat back and cover the speakers which would be cool this is what i ended up doing

Hey Guys I had kinda a stupid question about subs, I'm running a Polk 8" dual voice coil. But I want to build a box that is about .5-.8 cu ft box but I would like to have the sub fire in to the back wall to keep it some what protected. will this affect the sound from the sub. the box will be built of MDF and Fiberglass. in the shape of the jack storage area.

yes it will sound different, more muted or muffled,

this thread rocks. i was wondering the same thing, because i have a 3 and 5 year old. i thought about the sub in the center, but then the little fingers would be poking at it. i know i could run a cover but then that gets into more space too. i love the idea about behind the jump seat! ive got a couple tens,so im going to look into this!:icon_thumby: i also thought about switching to bucket seats and building my sub box/center console? like the jump seat idea even better though!

irishblessing that is one clean ass setup man, looks sick. i just shoved 2 twelves behind the front seats where the fold down seats would fold down and people sit on them instead. works great and provides nice butt massages.

Like This???

has anyone figured out a way to use a sub or two while still maintaining use of the 2 jumper seats in the back of a 96 supercab or similar. ive looked around but havent been able to find anything. thanks

I was going for the same thing as you. This is what I came up with. I have an MDF box style cover to keep the amp from getting damaged. One 10" woofer with a 600w RMS amp is totally sufficent for such a small cab. The best part about it has to be that I can still fit Me, Girlfriend, Stepson, and Dog in the cab. :yahoo:

i have two jumper seats that come down from the back. and i have two subs in the back as well. ooo ya. the seats are functional too.

i have two sony explod 10" slim series subs in two seperate boxes. there is enough between the seat and the sub. i personally like it. it works for me. :)

I see alot of sealed enclosures... Nothing wrong with that of course, but going with a ported 8" or two of good quality would get you loud, low, and be very flexible as far as enclosure design and fitting. People are getting into the 150.xx plus with DD 1508s, which is on the more extreme side, but a good example that some 8's can get LOUD! A couple Sundown e8's would be a very good choice.

well here is a few pics of my box I built to go between my jump seats. it is not totally done I still need to cover it properly it took me two trys to get it the way I like it.

first try. Built it to tall and the arch didn't match up with the place I wanted it to go also about 1/2'' to shallow.

And the second box now a 1/2" deeper and inch shorter to match the curve of the org. jack cover

The box will be covered in matching camel canvas, with a black stripe down the center. in the middle of the strip will be a very tight weave mesh to let the sound through. that way it will match my seats when I recover them this summer.

could probably make that for far less than >$100

just saying, tis a nice concept though. makes me wish i had an extended cab more and more every time i see extended cab setups.. would make it so much easier!

more room always makes life easier, but were is the fun and creativity in that
