sub with jumper seats

the problem with making one on the floor is that there wont really be enough room for 2 people to stick their legs straight out. its bad enough as low as they already are without "raising the floor". i really need to just sit back there and see how well one would fit on the back. there is only like 5" or 6" under these seats, otherwise i would just squeeze one under a seat

ummm ever thought of taking the seats out, and rebuilding the back part and just build it thick enuff to take the weight of some one sitting on it. kinda like a big bench seat

you should be ok as long as you have seatbelts..... You *might* be able to sqeeeze a 10" behind one of the jumpseats then just keep it folded down all the time.

how legal is have 5 people in there

Actually, i just went down and checked out my ranger, with a custom box you could fairly easily fit a 12" behind a jumpseat, it could be a pretty deep sub aswell. you just couldn't fold up the seat(s)

Bajabronco- wow i didnt think it was very deep behind those seats. ill have to check that out tomorrow. probably be a pita to get it in there tho. and idk how well id be able to attach seatbelts to a homemade sub box/bench seat. lol
4x4fun- my ranger came with seat belts for 5 people, so id assume its legal

i dont have that center seat belt but:dunno:

but as far the the seat belt leave slots in the box or make the "upright" separate and have them bolted in to the truck and it will look kinda like a stock bench seat would,

ill have to take pics of mine and throw them up there

This is a pretty deep 12" sub, it fits, barely, you could get at least another inch i think if you removed the plasic liner thingy thats in there to make it look nice when the jumper is down. just build a box for the front side and possibly just let the truck be the backside of the box, not ideal as far as sound goes but it would work and is certainly the most out of the way place for the sub to go.

You can get an extra 2"ish if you trim the plastic out from behind there as well.

will having the back of the seat right in front of it affect the sound at all? now all i have to do is find a sub... lol

flip the seat back forward when nobody in in there...and when you do have people in there i think the sound trade off would be worth it to still have the space.

what about this...

build i very thin box to fit 2 shallow 12" subs. make it thin enough to fit on that very back hump in the cab. but make the box wide enough to stretch the entire length of the back wall. if done correctly, you might be able to use both jump seats and the 2 passengers would still have full leg room. anyone seen this done before?

the problem with that is that you would definitely need shallow mount subs, which tend to be more expensive i think. I probably dont need 2 12"s either, one 10" or 12" should satisfy me. what subs do you guys suggest for a budget system?

kicker cvt slim and about 100 for the sub
