my new project QUAD CAB

just curious....what happens when you get doors from a 4 door ranger and find out they dont use the same hinges, seals, or fit in your door jams?

you should just consider the fact that the 4 door ranger doors might be a LOT of work to adapt.

i am going to have a lot of work regardless constructing the rear doors and c pillars i am trying to get these to convert them to what i need i know that 2002-3 rangers have the same arch to the window as my 93 hidges are not a problem
the problems are this if i build them from 2 doors

rear window will have to be fixed explorer and ranger windows are alot different when looknat them side by side ie the arch

If your going to all this work why not make a 4 door extended cab Ranger and have a 1 of a kind truck. It would seat 7 at that point. RB

well no i was intending to just a 4 door with extra behind the rear ie half of the ext cab but before the cutting begins i will certianly think of the full ext cab area again

will be only a 4 passenger truck i hate them dang jumpseats

Without the jump seats you would have room to throw in tons of crap. I would use the whole thing. RB

Not to rip on your project, because I think it's got some potential, but I kind of think you may be getting way in over your head here just because it is going to be a ridiculous amount of work making this thing come together and look good.

That said, I hope it works out. Have you considered cutting the Explorer right behind the rear doors, welding the hatch onto that, extending the frame, removing the wheel wells from the Ex body, and attaching a Ranger box? Seems a ton easier than making custom doors and stuff.

well guys if i wanted the exlorer with a box i would have bought sport trac and extended that frame. if i wanted al that that is what i would have done i want a ranger 4 door not explorer 4 door
not sounding like a jerk i hope that is what i want that is why it is being built

whats the difference? they use the same body panels, same interior compenents......the only difference is the badges. and those are removeable.

well i would agree with you however they are dffernt and use diferent panels and interior is similar ie seats dash ect the set off for door striker pin is at different heights and depth into the door. i am getting ready to start rear doors on saturday

I'm thinking that robbieo11 is past the "what should i do" and has moved on to "How should i do it". If he's anything like me the more people say i shouldn't the more determined I get. When I took my F350 from a standard cab to an extended cab I had a whole slew of people tell me i couldn't or shouldn't do it. When i built the BroncoStar it was the same deal.
I'm also in agreement with him on not using the Explorer rear doors as they are because of the rear wheel well being in the rear half of them. However they might be a good start to a door. Let's put our minds together and help him with this cool project. RB

I know, I know exactly how it is...I'm that way too. I'd just hate to see him start out with with two complete trucks and a parts explorer and end up with a pile of scrap metal.

I'll try to be as much help as I can on this. I don't have a whole lot of experience building custom body panels, but maybe I can give some advice about something else.
