my new project QUAD CAB

I know, I know exactly how it is...I'm that way too. I'd just hate to see him start out with with two complete trucks and a parts explorer and end up with a pile of scrap metal.

I'll try to be as much help as I can on this. I don't have a whole lot of experience building custom body panels, but maybe I can give some advice about something else.

I know the feeling. When i cut my perfectly good truck in half I kept thinking " What if this don't work?" But in reality if you cannot do something there is always someone who can for a price. It's just a life lesson. RB

whats the difference? they use the same body panels, same interior compenents......the only difference is the badges. and those are removeable.

no, the body panels aren't the same, and the interior isn't the same either.

quad cab update

Well here is the latest update not much work completed been getting ready for Christmas so progress is slow.

I managed to get the black splash in and gutted the interior with the help of my daughter .
We got to the floor removing the "tar mat" and checked it out. It is in real good shape but core support is hosed. So we will repair the cancer or replace it all together.

Got the doors off and rolled it outside to start on the rear doors. I started with the blue ext cab doors and broke the rolled over seam on the inside door.

This is how I took the seams apart I used a pair of wire cutters and ground one side of the jaw flat to line up with the edge of the door

Notice the face side of the door has very little distortion doing this

Next we did the same to the explorer door

And then the black splash door.

Kind of neat to see them like this

We found the moveable window of the rear explorer door has the same curve of the ranger the only “ issue” we are going to have is the explorer glass has a square edge.

So I think I have to incorporate the top of the explorer door where the seal is to get the correct shape for the top edge.

Look's good so far. RB

it was the cble popped off at the base of the colum

Any progress? RB

seems like a good deal for a deisel with only 32K miles...but you should look long and hard at what it takes to import a vehicle before you start picking trucks out.

Imo I would use them exploder windows on the ranger's front door and use 1st gen wing vents. extra work yeah, but it would set off a flare to your new 4 door ranger :)

if i had 19,000 i would be all over that... but why spend 21,000 for a 09 when you can have a diesel 4 door ranger for a little less...

It's probably not 19,000 U.S. dollars because nobody in Costa Rica would buy it. It's most likely in colones which is about half of our dollar. So that truck is about 9,000. When I was living there I almost bought a truck like that and was gonna drive it back.:dunno:

quite a handfull of a project there. thats going to be one long frame. maybe you should set it up with 4 wheel steering to make cornering easier. im thinking of a old johnny cash song, you know the one about the caddilac that was "built" over the years with parts took home from work at g.m. " '49,'50,'51,'52"....ect. should be neat when its all done. glad my core support isnt as bad as the black splash. i dont think ohio is quite as bad as new york state in the salt dept.
