I have a 2000 ranger flareside sport 2.5L, torsion bar suspension, trailhead package with 4.10 rears. I was surprised to learn what a unique little monster I have. I was curious if anyone out there knows how many of this concept configuration were produced in Aug 1999 and how many of these are still surviving.
Hi there!

Welcome!!!

I had the v6 edge version. Thats torsion bars, 4.10, 5 speed, rubber floors, roller windows. Its actually lowered in this Pic it was tall like a 4x4

Just sold it this year to a buddy who loved it from all the times he had previously borrowed it over the years

2.5L with torsion bars has to be rare... in all the years I've been here there's never been any huge amount of statistics on how many of what around...

That is what I understand, so I am truly curious about that. I bought my truck from an old fella who just thought it to be a normal truck, but he never really had anything done to it. I have been trying to show it a little love and discovered its oddities when trying to get parts that actually fit it lol. Now that I have been learning why nothing seems "right" it's actually rather exciting to me because I have never owned anything "rare" lol. I mean I know it's not a supercar, or anything miraculous... but hey...i will settle for "not too many out there" lol. I just would be curious to the actual produced vs survivor stats. Mine has over 216k on the odometer and still runs like a new one, so I have to hope there are others.

Sharp lookin' truck, love the red!

I would imagine, but $80 is a bit pricey for a sheet of paper. So, I thought, "well maybe I can get lucky and find a few folks who can give me enough reasons to get that paper" lol. Because to be totally honest I wasn't too sure about trusting Ai to give me the straight facts lol. I still trust humans more 😁. I mean it's a classic ford move to be like 'hey, we got extra stuff...let's throw it together and call it a production concept model'... but I gotta hear from true Ford owners to know it's a real thing lol. I might think about getting the paper now that I know its truly a real configuration that could be a limited number production because it is really starting to intrigue me 🤔

I didn't realize that's what they charged... It does seem high.

In this case "rare" doesn't add any value or anything other than curiosity sake... there's only a few options or setups that get more money but just for the right buyer not based on kelly blue book or anything official...

Just in case you didn't know the torsion bar suspension was only used on 4x4 and Edge and a couple other packages, I haven't heard of the trailhead package but hey, I spent a lot of years ignoring the '98+ Rangers... Anyway the odd thing about yours is starting in '98 there was no longer a 4x4 4 cylinder option in Rangers and being Ford they change the engine mounts based on engine and 4x4/4x2 a lot of times so there's going to be some hard to find parts (that aren't wear items usually) in there somewhere.
