I miss knobs and switches to control everything in a vehicle. There should be no controls that you can't operate in the dark by feel without looking. Touch screens belong on the trash heap of history.

I don't think newer vehicles are more reliable. I think they just cater to lazy people.

Dead panels. If you didn't have the top of the line model (which I often didn't), the switches, indicators, or knobs were just blanked out. That was an opportunity! You could repurpose junkyard switches and place them in those panels. Boom! Subwoofer switch! Boom! Auxiliary light switch! Boom! Passenger seat ejector button!

Wing vent windows are a big one along with real bumpers. Really modern vehicles are over complicated plastic trash. The only reasons we don’t have better vehicles is government overreach and greed. A simple, reliable vehicle doesn’t keep churning out money

I miss climate controls that used levers and cables. They always worked. They didn't get stuck in defrost mode if they got a vacuum leak. There wasn't any clicking or banging of vent doors from a solenoid issue.

I would argue that newer vehicles are less reliable because of all the electronic crap.

Aside from what I've seen with my personal vehicles, the vehicles at the Post office have pretty much proven that. The new delivery vehicles are less than a year old and have all kinds of problems, mostly electronic.

The Mercedes-Benz Metris vans are only 3 to 6 years old and have all kinds of codes for the electronics as well.

The Ram Promasters, same deal.

At least the LLVs have an excuse, they were built from 1987 to about 1992/1993 and have been used and abused the whole time.

Oldgeek even remembered 63 Mercury with retractable back glass. "Breezeway" was understatement. Should have been called wind tunnel.
Only thing with more air flow is convertible.
