That’s just it, the auto makers don’t want us fixing our own vehicles, they want us leasing an overpriced plastic surveillance bubble every 3-5 years

I wish I would have snagged power doors for my Ranger back when they were everywhere. Power windows would be very nice to have now that I have copilots that can't operate crank windows and have bulky seats that impede me just leaning over.

I bet all of us who had cars before they all came with power windows automatically have had that happen, ha ha ha

how about before keyless entry was standard, in a downpour before you left you automatically had your key in hand ready to unlock the door?

I leased from 2014-24. I finally said enough earlier this year and bought my lease out. Getting tired of always getting a new truck and plus they are stupid expensive now and i don't want to have to transfer all my lights and the siren to a new truck

The 3.5/3.7 engines were great in RWD stuff, the chain driven water pump is what happens when you tell an engineer to make it fit in a FWD as cheaply as possible. My daughter's 2012 Flex finally needed a water pump at about 190,000 miles and replacing it-along with some other repairs- cost her about $4000. She lives in Virginia near Washington DC so everything costs too much.
Wet timing belts are an example of what happens when we get engineering "help" from the Europeans. Think 30,000 mile water pumps and expensive, ineffective brakes on 78-80 Fiestas, megabuck Bosch electronics on everything that used them, and the NFG ZF CVTs in Five Hundreds and Freestyles.

If i could go to a dealer, doesn't have to be Ford, and buy a truck with crank windows, manual locks and a stick with no options the F150 would be gone. Don't get me wrong the tech'y stuff is cool, but just more crap to go wrong and when it does fail it’s $$$. Like the sealed LED headlight housings on the F150

Pretty sure you can go order a new F-250 like that, minus the stick shift. Maybe even an F-150.

Need to talk to the commercial sales desk or whatever. Like your going to order chassis cab.

Construction fleets will still spec them that way.

I don’t know of any company that sells a light duty truck in the U.S. with a manual.

Unless the count the Tacoma, they only make like 4 a year, or the jeep thing.

Ford has a 7spd that would drop into the Ranger.

But they ain't brave enough...

There's a lot of stuff that bothers me about what we have here, but what really gets me is that the rest of the world gets vehicles we don't, or can't have until they're two-and-a-half decades old.

I don’t mind power windows too much, after being caught in a couple storms with the windows down in a full size and trying to get across the seat to wind it up…. Lol

Meh. No electronics in the door let it get soaked.

Even better if its vinyl seats

I should also add that a few weekends ago me and my buddy had the quads out at the ORV park. Seen a guy nosedive his gladiator in a water hole. It didnt look *that* bad but it was obvious him, or the group he was with had little to no experience with wheelin or vehicles in general.

The thing stayed idleing the whole time it was in the water...they pulled it out and it died. The oil was full of water (filler cap looked like a 2.9) and it wouldnt start.

Finally got it kinda started dash was lit up like an xmas tree and it wouldnt go into gear. We helped them as much as we could but i dont know what came of it...dude had to drive it 90min back home to detroit.

My point being if that was a 79 CJ or something it wouldnt of happend.

what boggles me is you spend that much on a vehicle and then do that....if i were to do that, i would buy something old like a CJ like you said. I remember back in high school, friend took his ranger off road and hydrolocked it...
