1990 ford ranger 300 swap in progress

Come camping in October with us.

I have no job.. no income lol I’m a stay at home dad currently.. a 14hr round trip isn’t in the cards. Not to mention trucks no where near finished 😅 yall enjoy

Good luck 😂😂😂😂. I can count on one hand in my life how many “meets” I’ve been to. Not to mention being up in New York. I rarely travel anymore. Pretty easy to be a garage hermit when the world is the way it is now 😅🤣
Bruh I literally have no online prescence other than this place, and the old farts on here *still* manage to get me to go to stuff.

Granted, I have one of those horse masks on when I do, but they're convincing.

Understood.
Not trying to be a dick lol just not really a “normal guy” anymore. I’m a long ways off from camping or road trips 😅 sure as hell not taking my lowered Volvo. Like I said I don’t get out much these days lol life’s quieter and cheaper that way.

I'm not trying to be pushy. I hope it didn't come out that way. Believe me there was a time when meeting @RangerSVT for the picture in my profile was a HUGE ordeal for me. He was only 2 hours away.

Before I met my wife, I had only been farther than 1hour away from home once in my entire life. Family took a trip to DollyWood. I was navigator and drove the last hour and half home.

No doubt man, I don’t mind meeting new people and such it’s just hard for me to do anymore as anytime I used to get out I’d want to bullshit and talk to folks but anymore with the wife and kids… can’t take them with me and hang out but also don’t like just bailing on the wife to do so. I plan to take the truck to Carlisle once it’s Atleast reliable enough to get there. Maybe fore I worry with body/paint work but for now that’s the only plan really and that’s a year .. probably two years out at the rate things are going. Maybe more honestly 🙄

Hopefully you can make it by next year. I've heard it suggested we do a southeast invasion from TRS. I kinda like the idea. I know Rick is there every year anyway.

Most of us could use a GoFundMe for our project. And yours is more ambitious than most. I like what I've seen so far. You're doing excellent with minimal cash outlay.

Appreciate it man it’s a long ways off.. 😆 still need to cut out the floors and firewall for rust removal and repair. Replace all the body mounts and rear springs and hangers… rear axle needs a full rebuild. Front axle needs gears. Whole truck needs a wire harness. Still need to gut the fuel system and scratch build the intake manifold. Aswell as many other things including a new booster and all new brake lines

word of the day is defeat… I need to work on knowing when to walk away but I just wanted to see how it may set and clear. Unfortunately for me after ya king everything in the front hangers and shackles in place I removed all but one jack stand…. “ why though!?!” Simple id forgot it was even there and didn’t see it.,everything settled and I’d thought man that’s too tall and everything rigid… I’ve had leafsprung 1 tons with more movement! Then I spotted the jack stand still under the truck! I removed it and that’s simply put when all of it went to shit 😂😅. When is mocked up I’d missed that stand trying to beat a thunderstorm and losing daylight so when the stand came out my nearly perfect shackle angle went straight flat and ripped the brackets off the frame 🤬🤬🤬.

I should have let it be but tomorrow is a new day and I have a rough idea of what I’d like to change.
( don’t worry the cross brace was temporary )

I know it’s ugly and lazy 😂. Apologies if you were expecting great success.

No doubt a mild setup back and kick in the balls but given the situation it’s the most expected ending😅😅 tomorrow if I get the time lll make some adjustments and hopefully finally see it on its own weight again for the first time since July

I'm wondering why you didn't put the shackle at the back so when you hit something the natural movement of the axle is back. Shackle in front movement is forward.

Simply put packaging. Either setup works well in my opinion but everytime I see rear shackle setups it’s either too long of shackle or too tall of a lift. This is just stock yj springs as a baseline and seeing where things want to live. Also don’t like how far down most rear shackle setups drag. Many argue rear is best for ride and that’s true but and front “pulls” you over an obstacle. End of the day they will be behind the front bumper if I make contact well then it’s already to late regardless
