NOTICE Where are the serious off-road Ford Ranger builds!!?? Show me....

When you get a $400 grand cherokee there really is a thing called "just ain't care", supposedly it's a blast... I've ridden with friends with beaters and it is fun, same with $800 Tahoe's... My Ranger is pretty dented up but I still care too much to go full send... I stay in partial send mode...

My daily driver is actually a 1993 Grand Cherokee 4.0, but it's in respectable condition this I maintain it so.

1986 Bronco II sitting oh Dana 44 HP, Ford 9”, C4 tranny, Dana 20 t/c, with a 351w on 38.5” Interco Super Swampers.

I have looked at Unreal Adventure and think it would be fun. My hold up is the roll cage requirement that I also doubt some of the attendees actually have roll cages. Hope truck is going this year.

I finally found that popping noise ive been hearing while turning at the log jam at Elbe last weekend..... only thing stopping the whole arm from twisting off was the length of the upper bolts and the lower was still attached.

Close enough to being a Ranger so it counts!

These are cool. Funny when people buy a Ford Explorer to get the engine and drive train out of it to put in a Bronco II and basically build an Explorer Sport. I wonder if anyone's ever converted the front clip to a Gen-1 Ranger / Bronco II and blended it all together to look factory? That would be cool. These also have a better wheelbase.

I dig it. Have any more photos?

Its been done, I looked into putting together a first gen (83-88) 4dr BII eons ago. IIRC if you are good at bodywork it wouldn't be too bad.

I could probably be convinced to trade my truck for something like that...

The dash instrument panel/dash I created.

5.8L sitting in the truck. I think going from a 2.9l, doubling the engine size, and fitting into same truck is cool. Hope to find or make some 2.9L decals to slap on the truck for fun.

Engine sits pretty close to firewall and REALLY close to the radiator/electric fan. Can fit a serpentine belt, skinny side, between the fly wheel and the fan, that’s it. Had more time/desire we could have lowered the motor’s mounting position but dumb luck prevailed. Have room for the headers, Hedman 88400, and everything else, so far. Had to use a tiny air filter, 10”.

Where it all started with the tires I wanted/had.

Keep us posted on this thing! :icon_thumby:

With a different crank pulley you can run the Explorer belt setup which is the tightest fitting belt system Ford hung on a SBF... and you get a nice alternator and power steering pump to boot. If you want a different pump for hydroboost or whatnot they make alternate PS pump brackets (I know Wild Horses has them, probably others as well)

I didn't look to see if you're keeping AC or not. But here are pictures of the AC delete power steering pump and idler pulley brackets from Wild Horses. They seem to be pretty good. I did have to tweak 2 of the mounting holes on the idler bracket just a tiny bit. This is on a 96 5.0l. Steering Pump bracket is designed for a Saginaw/Delphi pump.

Didn't want to Hijack a previous thread with my stuff so I edited the previous comment. Thank you for the kind comments and will keep ya posted. I did go with a Saginaw pump off a '96 Econoline van. I have contemplated the hydroboost but will keep "stock" for the time being. There is an aftermarket company that sells the stock steering gear plumbed to run hydroboost.
