Since nobody else has posted all day I'll point you in somewhat the direction I know even though I haven't done the swap... The explorer guys over on explorerforum.com have apparently taken a 5.0/Auto and turned it into a manual one guy started going T-5 another M5OD-R2, don't know that they finished or sold it before finish or abandon and went other route... Other than the chances that someone included more details than I remember in one of the swap articles here I didn't find much on site. Another place to look is ford-trucks.com, more geared towards the F-series those guys have more info on what is essentially a fullsize truck engine+trans combo, a few hits there came up on google.
might try googling some keywords plus "site:therangerstation.com" or ford-trucks.com, explorerforum.com, etc - something like "5.0 Auto to M5R2 swap site:therangerstation.com"
One thing I found in my 2 quick googles was that the M5OD-R2 (also called M5R2 by others) is a little too big, most folks are talking 1" body lift to make it fit. Given the M5OD-R1 and R2 both use concentric (hydraulic) slaves, I think you could order all the clutch parts for a 97-F150 and then just use your Ranger master with the f150 slave, but that is a guess.... worst case the fittings aren't right and you end up needing to adapt or the bore X stroke is so wrong it wont work and you have to use a F150 master.
The tech articles here have several hits for the 5.0 explorer swap (typically auto), but some might have some info I haven't dug into...
