Headliner patch roughly fitted - uncle brought his MiG machine in instead of my flux core. Going to use 3M 08115 panel bonding adhesive above the rear window and interior headliner to prevent warping then weld around the door/window sills. Stay tuned

Got my backing fitted up but ran out of rivets - more came yesterday so going to finish it up tmrw then weld the door seams and move to the firewall portion. I think this came out a lot better than what would have had I welded it. This 3M panel adhesive is interesting in the fact that it cures from 50°-200° and the higher the heat the stronger the bond. I’ve had the furnace turned up to 70s for the backing bond but for the patch to backing i’m going to get a heat lamp for a stronger adherence.

That's good to know, I am probably going to use that for replacing the box sides on my F150.

I talked to a friend of mine who owns a body shop about this topic and he said they use it all the time but he prefers to spot weld panels in addition to using adhesive. I think he told me they will get the adhesive on, then line up the panel, then spot weld through the adhesive... interesting way of doing that. Rivets are probably the next best thing for those of us who don't have a spot welder.

Yep very cool product being that you can weld through it also - I drill 5/64 pilot holes then go back through and open them to 1/8" then use 1/8" diameter 1/4" long aluminum pop rivets. After all is said and done you still have to grind off the rivet heads but that's not near as much work as it took me to get here!
