Timing chain guides went out today. Haven’t been hearing them rattle on startup so I thought I’d have more time. Only at 123,000 miles. I’m 3.5 hours from at college and not too sure what I want to do. Really don’t want to get rid of it but not willing to pay to have somebody to fix it. Just really bad timing for it to happen.

Find yourself a cheapo beater and let the truck sit till you can fix it

I’m not sure I want to rock with a cheap beater with all the driving I do. Getting tired of always fixing stuff and my class schedule isn’t going leave much time for it. Looking at newer used pickups and I think I could swing one. Then it’s just storing the ranger until next summer or I graduate

Just remember though newer dont always mean more reliable lol.

Just like old dont always mean unreliable.

Anything breaks down. Unfourtantly

Yup, maverick

Kinda what I’m thinking, but can’t find one used. I was looking at a 2014 single cab Silverado with 107k miles but got sold before I could run down

Since I'm the resident cheapskate, I'll just offer that if you need something inexpensive that won't let you down while you make other plans, 2003-2008 Matrix/Vibe/Corolla automatic. If basic maintenance has been done they're bulletproof.

Or a 98-11 Crown vic/marquis/town car. Plus they have mod potential.

Agreed. Great cars. I almost felt the need to apologize for suggesting a Toyota here. 😉
I love the panther cars lol. I had a 99 a long time ago.

Yotas are reliable....but so are vics...and basically heavy 4 door mustangs riding on a full frame.

You can bash em' beat em' neglect them, tow shit with them, and its easy to find low mileage old woman examples (espicially the marquis) for basically nothing.

Damnit now i want one again.
