well... this probably won't explode.
One of the changes to the new truck I plan on making pretty soon is a new exhaust setup. Current setup is a straight pipe from the cat that exits under the cab. It's livable, but I'd like to mellow it out a bit.

Had a Flowmaster 44 on my 94' 4.0 and loved the sound.

Any kits you guys would recommend?

whatever you get, get the longest bodied muffler and it will be lower and sound deeper. don;t get those short glasspaks or cherry bombs because they will be very loud and horrible sounding

Good call. Never cared for the glasspaks sound.

Ended up going with the Dynomax kit. Only one that seemed to meet my needs for a reasonable price. It has a long muffler so hopefully it sounds alright.

let us know. i have been kicking around hte idea of putting something on my little 3.0 ranger

Don't have it exit under the truck anywhere. Exit in front of, behind the tire, or best is past the tailgate. A drone sound is livable but why live with it.

Yeah the kit I ordered exits from behind the rear tire like the stock setup. It should be a much more livable setup for the daily commute.

Besides, I have my Mustang for when I want fast and loud haha

Whatever you do I recommend stainless.

It sucks playing whack a mole with rotten pipes every two years.

Late to the party but I've had a Dynomax Cat-Back system on my 4.0L OHV for about 7 or 8 years. Holding up very well and has a real nice tone to me. Not too loud at low RPMs but sounds good when you get on it. No drone in my application.

I put a Gibson cat-back on my old Sport Trac. It was kinda loud though. When the muffler got a hole after several years I got a Flowmaster DBX that was quieter but still sounded nice. The Gibson was a slam-dunk to install. When I got the Flowmaster it was the same length and just hooked it to the Gibson pipes.

So, how's it sound?
