What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

160 thousand & change. Didnt hear any bearing noise, I know its a possibility.
After 160K miles, the wheel bearings are due. Tire noise can cover bearing noise and vice versa. Even if you don't hear noise, look at it as preventive maintenance. I completely replaced the front bearings on my Ranger at about 106,000 six months ago since they were due for repacking anyway and previous shops had mixed incompatible greases during front brake service.

On the Escape, your bearings are probably prelubed and sealed. You replace them, but don't need to worry about packing them.

The Ford Festiva I had years ago began going through wheel bearings like crazy after a certain point, and all were replaced before 100K miles. After many miles, even using Timken bearings and the best moly grease available at the time, I was doing well to get 10K miles out of a rear set. The outer rear wheel bearings were a well-known Festiva weakness. They were too small for the job.

I haven't looked into it. Was thinking the helper spring might raise the rear a little too. Which would allow me to get my headlights adjusted correctly. I still get bright lighted all the time so maybe a little more angle unloaded would help there. I've turned down like 20 turns. Don't know how many more threads are there and dang sure don't wanna have to get those bastards out to retread it haha

You went 2.5 in the front right? The adjustment is definitely there.

The dealer didn't adjust my headlights or collision avoidance camera after they put my leveling kit in.. so I was getting beamed all the time and after 13k miles or so when the leafs broke in good the collision avoidance was finally aimed high enough to not work.

Brought it back for them to finish the job and all is well.

They adjusted my camera after the windshield was replaced but not my headlights. I adjusted them down about 20 turns. But recently, probably since my leafs have settled, I'm getting the bright lights. I wonder how many full turns them little screws have in them. But I wouldn't mind a little loft in the back anyway since I use it to haul quite a bit camping and such.

I just noticed in the past couple of years that there is no outside key lock for the passenger door, just drivers door only. not sure when that started but apparently its been awhile. I never lock the ranger or the hhr. Theres nothing of value kept in either one and I dont want a broken window.
My 2010 Buick Lucerne has only the driver side key lock. it also does not have a key lock for the trunk. so once the power trunk release stops, I am SOL.

Changed both the lower ball joints tonight after work. Guy doing the inspection wanted $600 +parts.

Three hours including dinner break, test drive, and clean up. + $50 for two Moog “problem solver” lower ball joints.

Got 80k miles out of them, so I guess I can’t complain too much

Pulled it out of the garage, retrieved some stuff out of the back for the Bronco and backed it back in.

I drug a few wheels from the parts pile . Got them aired up to see which ones are good. The plan is to drag the Ranger out of the back yard onto the front yard so it will be more accessible. Right now, it's out of site, out of mind, the front is up on jack stands and the rears are flat. I figured if I have to look at it every day, then I'll be more inclined to wrench on it.

i looked at two lincolns in the junkyard with those wheels. i wondered what the ranger would look like with them on, till now.

I love the way they look on My Ranger. Better than the silver steelies that came on it.

i am thinking of going and getting them since they had nice tires on. i like the way they look also. and i have steelies too so it will be cool to have some nice alloys.

The Lincoln tires are shorter. 205/70r15 I think the Ranger tires are 235/75r15 iirc.
