What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

So my 92 STX Ranger came with 215/75-15, the door and window stickers say.

My first Ranger, 2000 XLT with a 3.0, 2wd came with 225/70-15. I replaced with 235/75-15

My Green Ranger, 2000 XLT with 4.0, 4x4 (and I’m pretty sure dad’s 99 and 00 that are same optioned) came with 245/75-16

I’d have to check the rest. My 95 F-150 came factory with 235/75-15

My '94 2wd came with 225/70/r14 with option of coming with the 235/75/r15 along with a 215 option in there to.

I have pictures of door stickers in my phone to cars I don't even own.
Oddly enough, I do too, and I don’t have pictures of all the door stickers of what I do own, lol

my Ranger came from the factory with 265's even the door sticker reflects this, but every time I have went to get tires, the tireshop spends at least 15 minutes debating that, sometimes even after they look at the sticker lol

Thats why I never take a vehicle in for tires, I drop off the wheels, state what tire I want then pick them up later. A lot less hassle. Years ago a walmart had a 205/75/14 on sale, the taurus we had at the time took 205/70/14’s. no big difference. Well they waited until the car was up inthe air, all 4 tires off to tell me (per their policy) that they couldn’t sell me that size because it was different from the sticker. I told them to put the tires back on it, I would go elsewhere. Since then Ive never took a actual vehicle in for tires. My ranger doesn’t even have a door sticker any more.

Many years ago with my first Ranger it was getting to where I needed new tires and the tire options for the size that came on it, 225/70-15, were all highway and all-season. I wanted an all-terrain at minimum and the closest I found was 235/75-15. The tire shop didn’t really want to recommend it. I called Ford and asked, they looked things up and said they didn’t see anything wrong with going to that size, it was a minimal difference. I changed the tires and never looked back. Any time I was questioned after that, I said I got it from the horses mouth. Want to say for awhile I had a paper from Ford stating it too. Not sure where it may have ended up though.

That said, I’m at the point where I’d rather do my own tires. I own half of a Coats 10-10 but I’m looking at upgrading to a rim clamp machine.

One of the tire shops I go to has this laborer who seems to like to argue. He tried arguing with me and the owner of the shop about installing a matching spare tire and tpms sensor in the tire when I upgraded to 31”.

Did it again with the 2019 when I got 5 winter tires for it.

if i had a tire machine, i would be broke trying all kinds of tires. my friends would be over all the time and that tire machine would be earning its keep, ha ha ha.

If I had a place to put it, My guy has a tire machine in storage. Has the clamp on the side to break the bead loose and I think will do up to 18" rim. So I'm trying to make room for that.

Yeah. I could really use it now. Out of the 4 tires I aired up the other day, only the two leaning on the Nissan held air.

The 3 tires in the background have Nissan wheels in them and if I had that tire machine I would have them swapped by now.

I found a 16" rim/tire combo that was still holding air and put that one on. there is one good one on the PS rear

Now I have four good rollers that should make it easier to get the Ranger to where the Nissan is in the first pic and out from under that oak tree.

What bolt pattern does the Nissan use? 5x114.3 is pretty common on modern jap cars. Is it a four lug?
