'85 Ranger Restomod

The open end on mine face backwards as well.

One thing that might help with puck wear is a trick I picked up from the Aussies. They occasionally grease where those pucks go. I used some silicone brake grease in those spots on the new springs I hung on the 2011. I never did look at the old springs to see how they faired. I might have to go do the before I get rid of them.

Cables are on, using springs I nabbed from an Explorer at the JY I am pretty happy with the routing:

DS needs a little more support yet:

The cables are a little on the loose side, the pedal doesn't ratchet down right, at least the LH side sticks... otherwise everything is awesome! :yahoo:

I was hoping there would be some adjustment on the pedal assembly to take the slack out of the cable, I dug thru my 8.8 swap folder it looks like originally Ford had a spring in addition to a bunch of other junk on the cables to add tension to them. I have no idea where that ended up 9 years later...

I do like how they had the PS cable routed thru the slot in the frame too. I should have looked at this before I got started...

My junk yard just got an '89 in this morning. Need me to go grab some pieces? They wouldn't cost much to ship.

I will let you know, I have a pickup box trailer sitting in the weeds that in theory should still have those bits on it. And I don't even know if they can be adapted to the Explorer cables.

You do need to go snag that topper for your truck though, then you could be like the cool kids. :icon_thumby:

Won't fit. I have the stepside bed.

Really, from the pictures they posted, the truck looks pretty decent. Shame it went to them instead of private sale.

It might not have any floors or something.

But then some people just dump dad's/grandpa's truck without caring too.

Just checked inventory. Earliest explorers in my local yards are 94, 95, 96, 97.

Also a gen 1 ranger, i think it said '84

Disk brake Explorer is basically what I have right now, glad I did some recon last summer when I had access to yards:

A picture is worth at least a few swear words...

Ok. Based on the pix you posted earlier, I thought you needed the early hardware. Looks about right in this photo, doesn't it?

I am putting the Explorer brake system on my Ranger... so it is a hodge podge thing.

My Ranger system used the spring to put tension on the cable. I am now thinking the Explorer just uses the springs on the cables.

I don't really know what I need yet, I might just need to move that bracket back a bit...

This was making my head spin a bit. So I reposted the two pictures.

Looks like the cables are reversed...

They can only go one way though?

@adsm08 what say ye? This is all your idea...

So the passenger cable won't fit into the equalizer and the driver cable into the frame bracket?
