Twister 85 B2 Build

Get a bifurcated tool, place it between the two rods and twist. They will come apart with enough force, but you will probably tear the bushing from the looks of it.

The bushings are still available because they are still in use. 08 to 10 Super Duty uses them on the manual T-case shift linkage.

And yes, the flaring in the passenger side of the frame is factory design. The cat sits right there and would contact the frame if it didn't flare down like that. Both of mine have it. Very annoying when putting them on a lift because it puts the vehicle ever so slightly off kilter since it is in a lifting point.

Well after looking at the whole shifter assembly, taking one of those connectors apart would able me to remove the transmission, after breaking the kickdown lever the transmission almost fell out :shok:.

Well today was officially my last day at Culinary School :headbang:, i turned in the last bit of paper and i am done:yahoo:.

Still trying to find someone i can borrow an engine lift from to get going on this project full steam, but no luck yet :annoyed:

With me using the M5OD-R2, am i only able to use the block plate (right name) from a manual for my swap? I am having a hard time finding one from both the 92-96 body style and the 97-02 body style with the v6.

I'm so glad i went with an old school Trans last second. The external full size slave hooked right up to my ranger stuff with no problems.

With as many f150s as I see on a daily basis, I wouldn't think a block plate would be hard to come by. The transmission and transfer case are from an 02 and only have 80k mikes on them, so I wanna use them.

I would use them too but it seems like the hook ups for the clutch can be a nightmare to the ranger stuff.

Im clueless on how many miles are on my trans and transfercase but I will say after reading alot of forums on my transmission that some people cant shift from 4th to 3rd at speed and they have there transmissions well above 250,000 miles on them. Safe to say as nasty as mine was on the inside, I dont think it had a hard life in the f150 it came out of. But I do know that the truck ended up in the JY due to the frame was going out on it and was driven around for sometime there before a leave hanger gave out and the trans was pulled for a guy that never came to get it.

BTW, what is a block plate, that is, if you are using the right words for the part?

I don't know if I am using the right term. Its the thin metal piece that goes betweenbthe flywheel/flexplate and the the engine that helps locate the starter.

One of these

Those are essentially dust shields. You don't have to have one. I can't tell you how many times I put my trans back in and forgot to put it on lol. They just help keep crud from gettin up in on your flywheel and clutch assembly. I don't know if you have to get one for either a manual or automatic I never thought about it actually. You could probably hop on eBay and find one.

I have heard the manuals and automatics are different, I seem to be overran with automatic ones but I don't have a single manual one. I don't think they are specific to anything but the boltpattern though...

Wow...

The M5OD is well worth the work IMO (saying that I haven't done it though), I would just as soon use a rubber band than another non-OD transmission.

I recommend putting it on to keep crud out of the clutch the best you can.

I will say, dont forget to put it on before you put the flywheel and clutch on...been there done that.

More importantly it shims the starter out from the ring gear. The starter and ring gear are setup to work with that spacer between them.

I don't know if that one you listed will work. Ford facings website says its for a mustang. Didn't they use a different count flywheel, or does that not matter?

Good call, I didn't know they stuck with the 157t stuff on the 'stangs. You will want one for the 164t ring gear. :icon_thumby:

It would make a huge difference, mainly in relation to the starter locatio.

Should be a bunch of them with the older '150s though, 300, 302 and 351 all have the same bolt pattern.

There isn't many 5 speeds in the junkyard. It to me two weeks to find a starter.

I have been digging on this, I found:

http://www.cjponyparts.com/performa...ssion-separator-plate-260-289-302-351/p/TSP3/

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Comet-Fairl...Parts_Accessories&hash=item564fddd517&vxp=mtr

http://www.racepages.com/parts/bellhousing_block_plate/ford.html

Those would fit the 164t bellhousing/starter... the only possible getcha is if they monkeyed around with the thickness. I haven't found anything about that, maybe the last link that brags about their customer service would be able to help.

Hate to say it, you should have grabbed the one from wherever you nabbed the starter. They are not an easy or cheap to find...
