xBLAKEx's 1988 Supercab Build

Thanks Rowdy, if you could get that part number that would be great. A relocation kit on Summit was like $90! ha I'm not going to cut corners, but I'm always down to save some money!

Got mine off Flebay for $30.
Iirc it was a transGo or something like that. It came with swivel fittings. THROW THEM AWAY and put on regular fittings. They will leak, ask me how i know.

What do i search to find these kits?

Well I read that guys review on there and he didn't seem very pleased with the quality. Hah
Is this oil relocation kit something that you 'get what you pay for'?

I'll look for it when i get off work. What exactly am I looking for, like the name of the relocation kit. Or is it just a relocation kit for the 302?

I was looking into more on the trans and t-cases today. I guess the explorers in 96+ only came with AWD, is that right? I didn't really want that.. I don't have the money to swap in a manual transmission, so I'll settle for the 4R70W [ automatic ] that i read was standard for second generation V8 explorer's. But I'm not sure about the AWD, wondering if the transfer case i have now would be able to hook up to the 4R70W? Or if there is another inexpensive route to get rid of the AWD.

I guess I'm asking what the good set up is for a limited budget.

Before this swap came into play i had been planning on swapping in a one piece drive shaft to reduce the vibration i have, but what happens when i swap in the 4R70W and which ever transfer case. Would that 98+ one piece drive shaft still work?

Also something I was thinking about.. Will the 302 in my 88 ranger be able to get smoged?

If there are guys that have already done this 302 swap on a first generation ranger, a link to a thread would be great. I'll keep searching around and see what i can find.

Smog- yes but you have to use all the smog equipment, sensors and exhaust from the donor vehicle. You'll have to take it to a referee initially then they'll enter it into the computer and you can go to any smog shop after that.

Ok so I bought a Hayden automotive 291 remote mount filter kit. It was $36.75 from amazon.com it didn't come with the hoses though. With shipping it came out to $43.19

Thanks for the links and pictures! I like that set up a lot. Seems way easier to change the oil filter with it right there ha.

I'm about to start college so i have to buy some books that are way over priced. So I'm not sure when I'll be able to get a wrecked explorer. :/

Thanks for the idea, I'll see if it cheaper on there. I can't believe how over priced they are! It's around $300 all together for the 3 books i need. It's crazy.

How's it goin! Been able to get any work done or has school been eatin up too much $?

Yeah sadly i haven't done anything since i ran out of gas for the welder awhile ago! Been spending way to much money on school! And working to much for not enough money.. It's sad, i just spent $105 on a calculator!

That sounds like a TI-84. What are you studying? Sent from my iPhone

TI Inspire :] It's one bad ass calculator! Ha I got a really good deal on it too. Cheaper then the TI-84 somehow. And right now i'm just at a community college so I'm just getting my general education done. I'm going to go for a Mechanical Engineering degree. $$$$$$$$$$$$ :]
dont worry, that changes as soon as you get a job :icon_rofl:

Hah Yeah being 18 i don't have a high paying job.. That will soon change after I get through school. I have held the same job for over a year with a couple promotions but with no raise. What a joke.

Little update. I wasn't able to get the tube work done on my bumper for various reasons.. But it's already started to rain so i decided to paint it.

I also cleaned up the rust behind the grille and painted all that.
I've been so busy with school and work that i haven't been able to do much else. I was saving for a wrecked explorer, but now i have to buy a laptop instead :l
