hey i was wounder if anyone had any ideas on making my 94 ranger 4.0 over heating slower cause i can only go mudding for 10 mins before the coolent starts boiling and im not even pushing it that hard. any ideas will help, thanks

Service the radiator and check the fan and waterpump. Could be a few reason why it is overheating.......

Shouldn't be overheating even wheeling after 10 min

Mine used to overheat - the radiator was filled with dirt and grime - you couldn't see light through it. Pulled it off, took it to a car wash and cleaned it off really well. Now it barely gets in the normal zone.

radiator caked in mud, pressure washer time!

I'll try pulling it and cleaning it but what are some good e-fan brands to look for?

Check your clutch fan and make sure you are not running more than 50% antifreeze. If the coolant is too concentrated it won't cool as well as it would with 50-50 or less.

i suspect either an airflow issue suck as dirty rad, missing fan shroud, inop fan, or a bad pressure cap/ coolant condition

if it's overheating within 10 minutes, there's no coolant issue, it's a heat exchange issue, or stuck thermostat

i think it is the coolant thats the problem but is it true that if you ran thicker oil that it would run cooler to? the guys i meet on the trails told be that and that was what they were doing.

No, thicker oil runs hotter, although not nearly enough to make a damn bit of difference. Different oil viscosity isn't going to cause or prevent an engine from overheating.
