I asked at another Ranger site how things were doing down there. This is what one guy replied with:
"I dont know how everything up north is going, however I know theres a few guys here at work that live in Butte La Rose, La along the Atchafalaya river that are expecting to lose everything. With the opening of the Morganza Spillway, they're expecting water to crest 3-5 feet above their houses. Worse part is flood insurance companies already told Governor Jindal they won't cover losses because it's a "man made disaster" due to the opening of the spillway.
Another guy up in MO near where the Corps of Eng blew the levee said the insurance companies tried the same think till the state stepped in and threated to find the hell out of them.
