damn flood!!!

you can see the railroad track there. at one point the track was covered by about 4" of water... see the glass knocked out of the store? happened when it was underwater.

I heard that the floodgates are being closed on the rivers in Loo-z-anna.......

I also heard that the river in Missouri might break the levee this week......

The Missouri River.

Up in South Dakota they have the gates on the dam open 2.5' to dump their extra water, going to open them to 4' sometime this week.

We are getting some pretty nasty flooding near here too, Hamburg Iowa (where that levee is supposed to flood) might still have 2 feet in town by December. Last I heard 10' was projected in the town square. That town is notorious for flooding, not sure why there are still 1100 people that live there. It seems if two cows take a leak up river it almost floods out the town.

But it is effecting pretty much all up and down the mighty mo in a very bad way... so keep your waders handy down there in LA. After all it does all roll downhill. :icon_thumby:

Local JD dealer just built a new dealership over by the river, opened last spring. They moved 8 million dollars of inventory out of there and built a 10-15' tall earthen wall around to try to save the building.

so its "down" but its still high..

That is why I love WNY. No floods. No hurricanes. No quakes and hardly ever a tornado over an F1. A little snow isn't so bad now is it?

still high, but a soothing sunset

Gavin's Point Dam in South Dakota is at WOT right now... I am sure that will effect you guys eventually. Dunno how much though but it sure couldn't help any. The Missouri is wanting to go nuts from SD clear into Missouri. So far the levees are mostly holding... dunno if they will for the 2 months they are projecting this thing to last though.

Like 85 said - in omaha the missouri river is growing more and more each day the city has had to block off several roads by the river. Our local quiktrip ran out of gas the other day because where they get their gas from is just about flooded so tthey have to drive to another city to get the gas. I took some pics ill post up later.

There was also talk about shutting down a nuclear power plant about 30 minutes from me in fort calhoun which would put tons of people without power.

Crazy year! My Mom sent me pictures of the river at Pierre ealier this week, just never down loaded them. One I remember is the swirl hole where the water is being sucked out of the lake.
