what do you guys have for exhaust on your v6?
i dont think a V6 can ever sound good.
sure, it will sound good for a v6, but not overall good. the only engine that can sound "good" to me is an old v8 with that deep low rumble.
when i see a v6 with duals i just laugh. not calling on anybody here but it kinda seems "poser". sure, ill support it if you like it, since its your truck and all. but the only thing i would ever put duals on is a v8
once i cut the muffler off a v6 and it sounded ok for a v6 but it didnt sound overal good. so anyway id just like your guys opinoins and what you have done to yours and how it sounds

I agree with you for the most part. I, myself, generally would never put dual exhaust on most vehicles. I think the performance gains are negligible except for really high performance engines (mostly V8s). I surely wouldn't put duals on a vehicle with a single exhaust manifold. For me, any modification to a vehicle needs to serve a functional purpose and dual exhaust when it's not necessary does not serve a functional purpose.

As far as good sounding V6s, I had a '97 4.0 Ranger that sounded pretty good with the muffler removed, cat still in place and exiting in front of the rear tire. It wasn't even too loud or obnoxious. I can't remember what size exhaust I used anymore, but I think it was 2.5" tubing.

I think mine sounds pretty good. A deep tone without being overbearing and it doesnt sound ricer like at all. Single in dual out with 2.25. Of course a V6 will never sound like a V8 but that doesnt mean it cant sound good.

My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"

Yes, I will make a clip, just for the Newfie! No the 6 will never sound like a 8, I have had a number of Olds beasts and friends that have as well my 91 4.0L with no cat and a super 40 series Flowmaster sounds pretty damn good. Now if you want muscle music go to http://www.musclecarcalendar.com/toppage1.htm they have sound clips from a lot of the featured cars..... it is better then bacon even.

its no v8, but this is the best clip of my old 2.8. no cat, flowmaster, turn-down right after the muffler. (try to ignore the power steering whine, haha)

the intake is nearly louder than the exhaust.

2.9 w/ 58mm TB, CAI, 12* timing, catback - catco 2.5" hi-flow, 2.5" flowmaster 40 delta flow.

I'll have to post you up a pic of mine. Its basically stock piping and cat but the muffler that I've welded in place is a Magnaflow Universal Muffler. Basically this http://www.etrailer.com/p-MF10444.html

Sounds really good. Nice and low. It doesnt drown you out or get raspy at high rpm. It'd definitely recommend this one.

I'll try to get a video up soon!
