the donor is a 1990 with auto tranny and I replaced the smaller rear-end with the bigger 90 .
the yoke on 90 is bigger and my driveline wont fit.
the 90 had the slip yoke(splines) turned toward the rear.
So I turned mine around and used the slip yoke from the 90 and it bolted up.
I could have changed the yoke flange but didn't want to mess with the pinion preload.

Question - I have always seen the slip yoke at the transfer case end instead of at the rear-end. will this affect anything, I haven't driven it yet but will soon as I get my rear shoes on.

Should be OK. That is how any dual-cardan type CV driveshaft is set up (slip toward the rear). Just make sure the yokes are in phase.
