I've got a 302 crate motor from ford (M-6007-X302 to be exact) and I need a distributor to match. I'm going carbureted with a Holley 570 Street Avenger.
I purchased a Proform 66969BK Vacuum Advance HEI Distributor with Steel Gear and Black Cap for Ford 221-302 from Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000N3345W
My PDF for my engine says "The distributor you select must have a steel distributor gear to be compatible with the hydraulic roller camshaft. Distributor gear M-12390-B for carbureted application or F for EFI application recommended." but the distributor information says "Technical Note: Gear not compatible with roller cams. If using roller cams, please contact the cam manufacturer for proper gear selection."
Will this work or did I pick the wrong distributor? What does everyone use?
