I am currently working on a 3.0-4.0 engine swap and had a question about mounting the engine to a stand.

Does anyone know what size bolts I should buy to attach my 1992 4.0ohv engine to an engine stand?

It is hard to say because not all engine stands have pegs of the same length. I take one bell bolt and the mounting head to the hardware store and get bolts that match the threads of the original and about 3/8 inch longer than my pegs.

My bad; I should have better explained my need. I was hoping to get the thread size as I can measure my stand and add 1/2 inch or so. I can use washers as spacers so the length doesn't need to be exact.

Does anyone know the thread size; is it metric or SAE?

It’s metric. Pretty sure it’s M12 coarse thread

It is metric, I don't remember the size or pitch, but there is a reason I told you to take a bell bolt with you when you go to the store.

Correction it is 100% M10X1.50. Good thing I bought both M10X1.25 and M10X1.50 because my information was incorrect. Thanks for all your help the engine is resting nicely on the stand.
