i have a 96 ranger with 3.27 gears. i have snapped the pin and spiders once before and just didi it again the other day. so i ripped the rear apart again i changed the pin and reused the gears because they are practically new and not worn at all. now a day later everytime i hit ice or snow only one of my wheels will spin and the other seems to shake and jump around i think i know what it is but please give me your opinion thanks......:icon_confused:

Is this an open differential or a limited slip?

the only thing is is that i have never had a problem getting them both to spin even on the road but after this time rebuilding it it just doesnt seem right. the last time i went to ford to get the spiders and pin but this time i took the pin out of a 3.73 rear on another truck i have and left the gears in there

yes it did it went with the pin and the gears when i pulled cover the gears and the s clip were lying on the bottom and the pin jammed its self in between the pinion gear and the case it put a dent that is the size of the pin into the case i just left it and hammered down the metal that was mashed upwards

You can't weld a limited slip, you'd need an open diff to weld it up. Kind of hard to weld to clutch packs.

I'd say if it sounds fine on dry pavement, there's no metal shavings or chunks in the diff, and your gears are alright, it's probably just the wheel that spins catching traction and then losing it.

No, go ahead and weld it up if it's not your daily driver.
