From your earlier post, it sounds like your fuel pressure is good.

Did you ever do a compression test?? That will tell us a lot.

Also, the timing needs to be correct. You set it with the spout disconnected. I can normally break loose the dizzy bolt with a ratcheting wrench, from the top.

What is your TPS voltage reading with the throttle closed? Fully open?

fuel pressure is good at idle, what I'm wondering is if it's still adequate when the engines fuel demands are significantly higher. I'll have to hook up the fuel pressure tester and tape it to the windshield and go for a ride to determine that I guess.

And no, no compression test yet. I was going to do it months ago and then couldn't find my compression tester, then I found it Monday.

Would it be a common occurence to wear out compression rings and still have almost no oil consumption? Or are you thinking something else like a burned valve or a cracked head or block?

this has officially ceased to be my problem. Found someone last night that was more willing to work on it than myself and sold it.

Thanks for all the help guys...

Now I can focus on my other Bronco II...the one that I KNOW what's wrong with.

your problem was the timing, the 2.9 just doesnt like to be at anything but 10 or 12 degrees, and yes, 2 degrees will make a huge difference.......
