Hey guys,

A buddy of mine just bought an '05 Ranger with the 3 Liter from a dealer that has one of those 5 day no questions return periods so hes checking the truck over and had a question about a suspicious looking piece of wiring

Wiring in question is in the yellow box. Doesn't look too factory to me. Any chance you guys have seen something like it and know what it is?

Thanks!

Seconded. That is a factory plug missing it's appearance cover. You guys are more than welcome to remove it but the truck won't run if you do. I am also not sure why that red wire is cut.

This is one of those times when your friend needs to remember he bought a used vehicle, not a new one, and not be an ass about it not looking or being in factory condition. Those 5-day things are mostly for buyers remorse type stuff.

Thanks for the help guys. We figured out shortly after posting that the beauty cap was missing. He just wasn't 100% sure I only have experience with the 4 liter so I figured we'd ask

Get dealer to replace it, that connection NEEDS to be covered, it isn't there just for "beauty"
