I have a 1986 B2 that I already have the 4.0l out of a 1992 Ranger swapped into the B2. The engine swap was really not that bad, everything bolted right in as far as the engine to the mounts and trans went. The thing is the ranger had a manual trans and my b2 has a auto out of a 93 explorer.(I just had the original a4ld rebuilt 1000 miles before the 2.9l gave it up, so I decided to do the 4.0l swap.) The thing I'm wondering is; am I going to have to get a wiring harness out of another explorer or ranger with an auto trans along with the ecu to keep the auto in the b2? From what I've read here if I'm understanding correctly is that you can use an auto wiring harness and ecu for a manual but not the other way around? I'm not totally against putting a manual in it but since it already has an auto in it I'd just like to keep it that way, for now anyway. I really need to get this thing running soon, my b2's been sitting for too long ( about a year and a half since the 2.9l crapped out) so please let me know. Thanks: icon_confused:
