Afternoon.

I'm going round in circles a bit trying to get my head around rims and tyres. I know I want slightly bigger (taller) overall wheels and for them to be a bit more pronounced (Sticky outy / Negative offset).

I'm struggling to get comfort on which tyres would fit - Currently I have 265/70R15 and I'm just assuming 0 offset as I cant find confirmation. As Im looking to negative offset by 20mm or so I'm guestamating that this should be fine? Any advice would be great thanks.

This is the rustbucket..

If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
Speaking as someone who lives in heavily road salted NH, that's not what a rust bucket looks like.
If you take a wheel off and lay it face down you can put some kind of straight edge across the bead of the wheel and measure down to the mounting surface that mates to the hub. That measurement is the wheel's back spacing. Flip the wheel over and repeat the measurement on the face and the difference between the 2 is the offset.

Thanks Walt. Its actually pretty immaculate for its age as its done bugger all miles. Just the chrome bumper rust wise unfortunately as they arent the cheapest to replace.

I will go the manual route as suggested - was hoping to find the specs online but coming up short.

in the US the size and offset is stamped on the back of most factory wheels.
I would expect the factory offset to be more than 0.
on my 2000 and 2005 the offset is 12mm.

Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
As it sits, Imo, you have the perfect wheel gap. If you want to go to a taller tire id also look into lifting it, and also consider a re-gearing.

If you lift it an inch you could put 2" taller tires on it and retain the same wheelgap, but the 2" taller tires are going to noticeably decrease the amount of "snap" your truck has. That's why you would want to gear your axle/s down to retain the same overall drive ratio.

Nice truck. Too bad we didn't get them in the states! Does TD happen to stand for turbo diesel?

It is a turbo deisel yes. It looks smart for its age.. I'll look into gear ratios and tyre sizes still a steep learning curve for me. Only looking to increase slightly and have them slightly more out. I dont do a load of miles so it is mainly an asthetic thing.

Right now your tires are about a half inch under 30". A reasonable upgrade without a lift would be a 31" tire. There's tons out there in 31x10.5, and it wouldn't hurt performance too too much.

As previously mentioned, yank a wheel off and measure the backspacing and width. Then you just have to decide how much more "out" you want them to be, and just buy wheels with that much less backspace.

So say your current wheels are 4.5" backspaced, and you want the tires to stick out another 1.5".. You would want to order wheels with a 3" backspace.. Or just run spacers in the desired size. Proper offset wheels are preferred though.

That is exactly my thought process atm.. 31s and an inch or two out.. Regs in the uk mean tyres cant exceed the wheel arches and wanting to keep the body as it is (just want to paint a solid all over colour) Just waiting on a couple of local garadges to open back up this end so I can go talk to someone face to face..
